Our good friend John Carlucci, who works under the moniker UGLYGHOST, just launched his new multi-media website. UGLYGHOST was responsible for some of the incredible visuals that were projected at last summer's FRESH events at Painters Art & Food Bar. John has shot and directed numerous videos for acts such as My Chemical Romance, Reggie and the Full Effect, and Solid Gold. Tim Needles is an artist, photographer, humorist, and writer from Mout Sinai, NY. His eclectic media and art work has been seen in multiple exhibitions around New York as well as The Photographer's Forum, The New York Times, French Photo and The Long Island Pulse . He is the recipient of the Robert Rauschenberg Award in Washington DC and works with Adobe as a Master Educator. Tim is also the founder of The Strictly Students Film Festival and currently teaches art and film at Smithtown High School East.
"A Year In The Life": Project 366 is a photographic journal of each day of 2008 from the point of view of the artist Tim Needles. Every image was created using only an inexpensive point and shoot camera with the intent to creatively reflect on each day without overly advanced artistic tools. The resulting 366 photographs document a year which was both positive artistically and tumultuous personally from his travels to Puerto Rico, Maine, and San Francisco, to his father's struggle with cancer.

As one of the undeniable godfathers of the Long Island graffiti art scene, REME has remained a creative force to be reckoned with. While his roots dug into the walls and streets some twenty five years ago, REME has continued to evolve as an artist, designer, and entrepreneur. After a successful run as a featured customizer on the Speed Channel's popular "Unique Whips" automobile show, REME has recently celebrated the grand opening of his own REME Designs Studio in Patchogue.
For "Three Generations Of Decay", REME has produced over fifteen new works on canvas. The new series of works pay tribute to the essence and soul of graffiti. The paintings are like urban art shrines pulled directly from our own visual collective consciousness. With an unwavering respect for his craft and abstract sensibilities, REME continues to blur the lines of what a graffiti-based artist could and should be.

The work in this collaborative show depicts the various stages of a girl preparing her hair and makeup for a date. The images are intended to be light and airy to emphasize the surreal preconceptions she has about this "date". She is focusing on the process of altering herself for the fantasy she has created in her mind while also trying to fit a male's ideal of beauty. Contrasting this imagery are a series of words and phrases intended to represent the masculine role in this event. The vulgar innuendo represents the makeup the boy puts on to disguise his intentions. By incorporating this into the imagery of the female, we see her realize her date's intentions while she changes them in her mind, bending them into an innocent, sugary dream.

Austin Furtak-Cole is one of the most engaging and promising young painters on the Long Island art scene. His new body of work, which premiered recently at the Lawrence Alloway Gallery at Stony Brook University, is a powerful exploration of the connection between figurative and abstract-based work. Like DeKooning, whose women paintings were seen as a "retreat back to the figure", Austin has snubbed convention as an abstract painter, following his own inner direction, regardless of where it leads him. Rather than trying to live up to some false sense of dogma, Austin has challenged his notion of painting by allowing his images to come into existence as they do.
